Ben's Free Anti-Virus & Anti-Spyware Solution

To keep your Windows computer clear of viruses, spyware, & adware, I recommend that you install and use the following five programs:
  1. AVG Antivirus Free Edition. This program is free for home use and is rated as good as the big names such as Norton or McAfee.
  2. Ad-Aware SE Personal. Use Ad-Aware to scan your computer if you think it has been infected with spyware.
  3. Spybot Search & Destroy. Spybot has an on-demand scanner like Ad-aware, but it also has an immunization feature to protect your browser from malicious web sites.
  4. SpywareBlaster. This program works by blocking access to malicious web sites.
  5. SpywareGuard.
